The Field Center is a 65
acre state-of-the-art facility for plot research
in Horticulture and allied disciplines. About
half of Colorado is mountainous, with the remainder
in high plains and river valleys. Plants are
challenged by high pH soils, high light sensitivity,
temperature extremes, drying winds and drought
conditions. Irrigation at the center is done
by flood, furrow, drip, pop-ups and a linear
move. The main projects located here are the
turfgrass, ornamental
trees and shrubs, organic and
specialty crop research. |

The turf area consists
of 12 acres of research plots, including chemical, physiology
and species related adaptation research. For more information
please see the turf
management website. |
